Home of the Month Announcement

Home of the Month Award

Marietta Board of REALTORS® would like to recognize...

750 BF Goodrich Rd. Marietta, OH

This old Federal style Farmhouse, built in 1855, is the oldest house in the Oak Grove community. It was originally owned by the Bartlett Family for 160 years, until The Carseys’ purchased it in 2015, being only the second owners. From the early 50’s, the house was set up as a duplex rental, until the Carseys’ purchased it for use as a private residence and are currently converting the farmhouse back to a private home. Exterior landscaping stones as well as hand cut stones from the 1855 barn located next to the farmhouse have been re-purposed as flower bed edging by the Carseys’, with the wood barn structure being taken down by Ohio Barn Builders, to be re-used for a future home. Interior remodeling is still underway, to bring back this old farmhouse to the comforts of today.

Congratulations to The Carsey Family!

According to a descendant of the family, the Bartlett Family owned 240 acres, adding on to the original 18 acres which was purchased in 1805 where the family built their first log home, then later building the farmhouse in sites of the original log home. The Bartlett farm, formally known as Bartlett Grove, now known as Oak Grove, was where citizens of Marietta would travel upriver to picnic at the farm, being one of the grandest farms of the area. Mr. Bartlett later purchase several more acres of land outside of Marietta, which is now the town of Bartlett, Ohio.Again, congratulations to the Carsey Family. The Board of Realtors appreciates your efforts to make Marietta and Washington County a great place to live. The Marietta Board of REALTORS® awards this honor as the Home of the Month to a resident in Washington Co. who maintained their home in outstanding condition with a good looking exterior and appropriate landscaping. The program was designed to recognize those homeowners who do an exceptional job keeping their house lovely. It is also to encourage others to do the same. Thank you to The Carsey Family, your efforts have created an outstanding example of Washington County's beautiful and well-kept homes.
